Introducing Abertay University’s Transform Net-Zero project: Supporting SMEs towards a low carbon future.

Transform Net Zero will use Abertay's leading Food Innovation, Environment and Computer Games academic expertise to stimulate and improve SME innovation preparing for new market opportunities towards net-zero. The project will focus on low carbon innovation in the food and drink industry (water technology, energy efficiency, carbon sequestration, value from waste and energy) supporting SMEs to reduce energy, food waste, water use across the supply chain.  

This project will investigate the ways in which SME’s engage in activities for innovation and provide them with key knowledge and expertise to make a transitional improvement to their business to unlock the opportunities for the global climate crisis.  The project will help to stimulate action, and provide access to skills, training, workshops and networks. It will address specific issues surrounding the use of existing technologies, and barriers to uptake in Lowlands and Uplands of Scotland.   

Also, enable companies to be more competitive and energy efficient and prepare for new market opportunities, leading to real cost savings and enhanced competitive advantage. Supporting SMEs to provide novel solutions for zero waste through collaborative design with the access to experienced researchers and world class research facilities at Abertay University.
