Former jeweller donates goods to raise money for Hillcrest Futures

A range of solid silver jewellery has been donated to a Broughty Ferry charity shop by jeweller Richard Henderson in a bid to raise money to support local communities.

The items, which include over 70 necklaces, bracelets and rings, were gifted to Past Present Futures, located in Gray Street.

The boutique charity shop sells a selection of designer and high street fashion and accessorises to raise money for Scottish charity, Hillcrest Futures.

Shop manager Tricia Perrie explains: “We are hugely grateful to Richard Henderson for this generous donation. As our landlord he has been extremely supportive of our shop since it opened in 2020.

“Over the past two years he has donated a variety of items including watches, nomination charm bracelets and now a range of high quality silver jewellery.

“The pieces are stunning and are available to purchase in our shop. All of the money raised supports vulnerable people to live independent and fulfilling lives.”

Hillcrest Futures supports over 2500 people across Scotland and provides services to people with physical and learning disabilities, autism, older and young people, individuals experiencing homelessness and people in recovery from substance dependencies.

Richard Henderson is the former owner of Matthew M Henderson jewellers which closed its doors in 2019 after running as a family business for over 80 years.

On donating the goods he commented: “I’m delighted that the shop is doing so well, especially throughout difficult times during lockdowns. It’s my pleasure to be able to support them with these donations.”

The silver jewellery will be available while stocks last at Past Present Futures, 104 Gray Street in Broughty Ferry. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
