The Millennium Tapestry Company, a not-for-profit organisation that runs arts projects for schools in Britain and overseas, is currently running a new project, the Commonwealth Tapestry, working with Glasgow 2014 and Education Scotland.

They plan to involve about 96 schools across Scotland, each creating a metre square of textural embroidery showcasing their part of country and welcoming the world to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The resultant tapestry will be exhibited as part of the Festival 2014 at a venue in central Glasgow.

Currently two schools in Angus and one in Dundee are taking part in the project, two of which are kindly funded by Mackays. Three more schools are keen to take part (Clepington, Glebelands and Hillside Primary Schools) but do not have the funds to do so.

The cost per school is £410 + VAT, which includes a resource pack containing all the materials and implements necessary to make a metre square canvas, briefing documents and ongoing support.
