Leading Scottish law firm Thorntons has raised £46,000 for Cash for Kids thanks to its Charity Wills Campaign.

Taking place across its offices in Dundee, Perth, Angus, Fife, Edinburgh and Glasgow, Thorntons’ Charity Wills Month supports local people and organisations within the communities in which it operates. During the month long campaign, the firm didn’t charge a fee for any Wills written, and instead asked clients to make an equivalent donation to Cash for Kids.

Lorna Christine, Wills, Trusts and Succession Planning Partner, said: “Our Charity Wills Campaign is now in its 25th year and it is great to see it continue to get support from the public as time goes on. It is fantastic to see the generosity of our clients. We are grateful to everyone who has supported this campaign.”

Donations from the Charity Wills Campaign all go to Cash for Kids in Tay, Forth or Clyde area, whichever is closest to where the client lives, which means that children in their local area will benefit directly from the funding.

In Dundee, Holiday Provision is being helped by the Cash for Kids funding. Children between 11-15 can go to Holiday Provision can attend and will receive a nutritious lunch as well as being able to take part in activities they may have experienced previously, such as the cinema. The charity helps children who have been struggling with school and anxieties, the holiday provision allows them to communicate and helps them to build relationships effectively.

Carly Mackenzie, Radio Tay Cash for Kids Acting Charity Manager, said: ”In 2021, Radio Tay’s Cash for kids supported over 11,000 children who have been affected by poverty and or living with a life limiting illness or disability. Every year we are humbled with how many children we support, the difference it makes to these children is life changing. The support from Thorntons and their clients allows us to ensure we make a real difference. From funding school holiday provisions to a specialised piece of equipment, the donations allow all children to have the same opportunities as their peers. We will forever be thankful for the support we receive – from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”
