WeeCOOK come back with Trophy for Best Fish Pie in Britain and retain the Young Pie makers of the Year at Prestigious British Pie Awards.

Carnoustie based WeeCOOK’s pies have won the Best Fish Pie in Britain with a Gold Award for their Fishwife pie at this year’s British Pie Awards. The pie is filled with Scottish Haddock, Salmon, Smoked Haddock, local Arbroath Smokies and head chef Hayley’s secret family recipe fish sauce.

In addition to this epic achievement, WeeCOOK’s youngest apprentice Paul Curran (16 of Monifieth) won the British Young Pie maker of the year trophy. This is the second consecutive year WeeCOOK have won and its with great pride that Paul accepted the trophy not only on behalf of himself but for the honour of retaining this award for his team and Scottish Pie makers! WeeCOOK also won a highly commended runners up Silver medal for the Vegetarian Caponata Formaggio Pie and a bronze medal for the Spicy Piri Piri & red onion pie.

To come away with the awards we did, is even more impressive as the competition was particularly tough this year with a record 976 entries.

The Awards were judged by 151 experts last week in the UK’s Capital of Pies, Melton Mowbray.  There were 23 classes including Pork Pies, Steak & Ale, Game, Vegan, Gluten Free, Dessert, Vegetarian etc.

Owner WeeCOOK Hayley Wilkes, said; we’re absolutely delighted to have our pies recognised alongside such incredible pie producers from all over the British Isles. We’re proud to represent Scotland at these national awards. We’re especially chuffed that we have won the award for our Fishwife pie using the amazing Angus & Fife sourced seafood that we know and love. The team are of course over the moon for Paul our Modern Apprentice who has developed so much since starting with us. Paul had done himself, his framily and his team proud, and is a worthy winner his award and huge trophy!

The overall winner was a Gluten-Free Vegetarian Pie called ‘Mooless’ Pie made by Pieminister of Bristol. We love their pies and congratulate them on their deserved success.

We are a family restaurant, award winning pie makers and established caterers. The WeeCOOK Kitchen spent 3 years at the Broughty Golf Club in Monifieth in Angus. We have now relocated our Restaurant and Pies to our new premises, The WeeCOOK Kitchen at Barry Downs holiday park.
