ANGUSalive, the trust for sport, leisure and culture in Angus, is delighted to announce the return of their pantomime this December.

The Webster Memorial Theatre in Arbroath hasn’t seen their annual panto on stage since December 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic forcing closure of its doors. After a two-year break the theatre is once again teaming up with the multi-talented writer, director and chorographer, JJ Christine, to bring the people of Angus and beyond a magical festive extravaganza in the form of Rapunzel featuring Puss in Boots.

ANGUSalive Webster Theatre Duty Manager, Claire Drummie said: “The entire Webster Theatre team have missed pantomime over the past two years as it really does bring something special to the theatre and the local community. We’re hoping the pandemic continues to head in the right direction and we’ll be able to raise the curtain again to bring the panto back this December.

“Our annual panto features a professional cast that we will be auditioning for soon. As always we’ll be looking to involve local young people in the show and have ensemble auditions planned to take place on Saturday 14 May for 10 to 16 year olds who are interested in acting, singing, dancing and would like to work with a professional cast and production team.”

“The production team will be working hard once again this year to bring the professional standard that our panto-goers have grown to expect and we can’t wait to get started.”

JJ Christine, owner of Dancemania dance school in Arbroath and who is directing this year’s panto said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity once again to write, direct and choreograph the ANGUSalive pantomime. It’s a real honour to be part of the team and I look forward to getting started.

“Having not had a panto now for two years I hope to bring the theatre back to life with an all acting, singing and dancing production with audience participation and more. Get ready to let your hair down and join us on an exciting adventure like never before.”

Rapunzel Featuring Puss in Boots is just one of the exciting events which feature in the new ANGUSalive What’s On Guide for Spring Summer 2022. This is the first printed What’s On Guide from the trust since lockdown.

It’s jam packed with over 100 events and activities across museums, galleries, archives; libraries; country parks; sport & leisure centres and the Webster Theatre.

There’s something for the whole family with water sports and outdoor adventure activities for all ages at country parks; author days and kids and adult group get-togethers in libraries, pop-up archives events, exhibitions at Angus’ museums, and the full line up for the Webster Memorial Theatre until Autumn, plus much more.

Anyone who would like to register for Pantomime ensemble auditions should contact claire.drummie@angusalive.scot. Tickets for Rapunzel featuring Puss in Boots go on sale on Monday 28 March 2022.
