Post: Family Mentor/Resource Worker - Family Linked in Project (FLIP) 
 
Salary £19,466.72  
 
Terms: Fixed Term for 3 years/28 hrs a week,  
 
Responsible to:

TCA will be the employing agency, however the post will be based with the FLIP team within the scope of Barnardo's Dundee services. The Barnardo's manager will oversee all day-to-day operational matters. TCA will offer additional support and supervision in line with its role as employer.

Brief Description of Duties:

Tayside Council on Alcohol are an experienced support provider in Tayside and currently deliver a number of support services to children, young people and families affected by problematic substance use.  This is a new partnership project, working alongside vulnerable families in the community area of Dundee. 


We are looking for an innovative and passionate individual who can support us in embedding the principles of the Promise within our new Whole Family Project for children, young people and families impacted by substance use across Dundee city.  This Project is led by Aberlour, Barnardo’s and Tayside Council on Alcohol in partnership with Dundee City Council Social Work and Education. The Project is funded through Scottish Government National Drugs Mission Fund to improve support and access to services for children, young people and families impacted by drug use. 

The Family Mentor (FM) will use relationship-based, trauma-informed, therapeutic and cognitive-behavioural modelling/coaching approaches with families to achieve sustainable positive outcomes. The FM will work with the family to develop a goals-focused Whole Family Approach mentoring plan – covering emotional/practical support; coaching/advice around family relationships/child development/parenting skills; harm reduction.
