“International Karate athletes descend on Dundee”

Kanzen Karate are delighted to welcome athletes from 11 different countries to the City of Dundee this weekend for the 8th Kanzen Cup International Open competition.

The event brings athletes from the World Union of Karate-Do Federations (WUKF) and will be held at the £32million Regional Performance Centre for Sport on Saturday 21st May.  

The competition will feature teams from Denmark, England, India, Ireland, Italy, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia and Wales.

The Kanzen Cup has also been selected as a host of the new WUKF European Tour which features Dundee amongst Birmingham, Bratislava and Cluj-Napoca. The Kanzen Cup is open to everyone who participates in Karate and provides Inclusive Karate for those with disabilities.

Roy O’Kane, Kanzen Chief Officer said: “It is fantastic to see so many countries visiting Dundee once again to take part in the sport they all love. It is a great opportunity for Scottish athletes to welcome the world and test their skills in the spirit of competition, fairness, and friendship.

"We are pleased to have Dundee featured as part of this European Tour event, showcasing our city at its very best.”

The event will be opened by Councillor John Alexander (Leader of Dundee City Council) and Dr Liviu Crisan (WUKF World President).
