KILMAC tee-up support for Tayside festival

KILMAC has struck the right note with a range of sponsorships across Tayside in recent years.

Now the long-time Dundee and Angus Chamber member is backing Perth’s popular “Craigie Hillfest,” which returns on September 10 after being forced to pull the plug during the pandemic.

Kilmac, based on Dundee's Technology Park, has regularly backed the annual fundraiser for the Fair City golf club, with the day-long event featuring a wide variety of bands from across the region and beyond.

The Hillfest provides a welcome stage for artists to perform in front of a 1000-strong audience.

“This is the fifth time Kilmac has supported Hillfest, which has featured the likes of Eddi Reader and Fish,”said managing director Athole McDonald.

“The idea is to raise money to support Craigie Hill Golf Club by putting on a day-long festival for the whole family to enjoy. Kids aren’t charged for entry.

“It has pulled in the crowds every year, provided a platform for local bands to perform and it’s been a great addition to the local music scene.

“Small golf clubs across the country have to diversify where possible but I don’t know of any other that promotes a music festival to bring in much-needed funds.”

Eighties pop band Fiction Factory – who soared up the charts with the classic (Feels Like) Heaven - are reforming for a home town gig after 35 years and contemporary Celtic folk outfit The Mad Ferret Band are the latest to sign up.

Both bands are crowd pullers and have festival dates in the diary across Europe this summer.

Advance £35 tickets can be secured from Ticketweb. Kids under 16 enjoy free entry.

In addition to The Mad Ferret Band and Fiction Factory, the bill includes The Curtains, No Class, True Gents, John Martin’s Five Piece Band, My Pet Rocket, The Catch 22s, The Regrets, Zennira, Katie Whittaker, Bohemian Monk Machine, Hathaway, Vinyl Tap, Papa Hotel, Floyd Tomlinson, the Big Light and Stevie Wood.
