More than £400,000 of works to improve the district centre in Stobswell could be approved by councillors next week.
The contract, including the creation of a pocket park in Craigie Street and developments to the public space in Langlands Street will be supported by funding from Dundee City Council as well as the Cycling, Walking and Safer Streets initiative, Sustrans and Scottish Water.
Mark Flynn convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee said: “We are committed to continuing to make all of the district centres more attractive, healthy and positive destinations for local people, as well as those from other communities across the city.
“Albert Street area will benefit from more outdoor public space and changes that will make it easier for pedestrians to get around.”
Tayside Contracts are being recommended for the work under a negotiated contract which will include modifications to Albert Street junctions with Arthurstone Terrace, Park Avenue and Balmore Street to improve pedestrian movements and amenity, and surface water management.
If the city development committee, which meets on Monday (December 5) approve the £415,421 worth of work could start early in the new year and be finished by early summer.

Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
