The new Hub in Dundee will be launched on 29th May 2014 and founding members Asda, Dundee Council and Michelin will create opportunities for businesses of all sizes and sectors to work together enabling people, companies and local communities to take full advantage of the positive changes that are taking place throughout the city.

Scottish Business in the Community’s (SBC) Hub network creates collaborative opportunities for organisations and sectors to improve their impact on society, the environment and the economy - leading to sustainable business growth and flourishing local communities. Dundee will be the latest city to benefit and joins Ayrshire, Borders, Edinburgh Central, Edinburgh North, Glasgow and Inverness.

Paul Kelly, VP - Corporate Affairs, Asda said: “At Asda we take seriously our duty to support the communities we serve. We have strong roots in Dundee and we employ more than 1000 colleagues here. All local employers, large and small, have a responsibility to make a positive social impact on the individuals, families and communities that we rely on and who rely on us. That’s why I’m proud that Asda is a founding member of the Hub, which will bring together the private, public and third sectors to drive change and help make Dundee a better place in which to live, work and grow up.”

John Reid, Factory Manager, Michelin Dundee welcomes the launch: \"This is an exciting and positive opportunity for Dundee and its business community to focus efforts and make a real difference. Our experience at Michelin is that a willingness to help and contribute is not the issue. More often the issue is how to best contribute and to what initiatives. Hopefully the Hub will give guidance and focus to the businesses in Dundee and so make the biggest contribution possible.\"

Dundee City Council leader Councillor Ken Guild said: \"I am pleased to see the emergence of this new partnership which will help strengthen our efforts to improve opportunities for everyone in the city. I look forward to see how this develops in the future.\"

Tim Allan, President of Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce commented: “Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce is delighted to support this hugely exciting initiative and our members are eager to see joined-up projects like this help us push forward enterprise and business in our communities. The Chamber wishes to provide a lead in our communities, promoting business and creating wealth and employment.  We warmly welcome the Dundee Hub and, through our members’ efforts, will help support its important work mentoring young people, improving employability skills, empowering communities and enabling vibrant social enterprises.”

Scottish Business in the Community CEO Jane Wood added: “Our Hub network continues to grow and we’re excited that Dundee is now involved at a time of real growth and development in the city. Hub members share ideas, enthusiasm and local knowledge and we’re delighted that we have another city involved.”

There is already commitment to the Dundee Hub from several prominent businesses operating in the area and the launch event will provide an opportunity to hear why these businesses are involved.
