The Association of Scottish Businesswomen- Business Awards 2014

The ASB Awards are the only national business awards recognising and celebrating the success and achievement of business and professional women throughout Scotland. There are ten categories, open to women working across all sectors, recognising individual and collective contribution to economic success in Scotland.

Categories:

ASB Business of the Year (3+ years) (Open to members and non-members)
New in 2013, this award is open to businesses established before 31 May 2011.

ASB Young Business of the Year (up to 3 years) (Open to members and non-members)
Introduced by the Association of Scottish Businesswomen (ASB) in 2006, this Award is open to businesses who began trading on or after 30 June 2011.

ASB Most Innovative Start Up (under 1 year) (Open to members and non-members)
Celebrating the new ideas, processes, products, services, technologies and applications that have the greatest impact on an organisation’s start up success, this Award recognises the enterprise that has most successfully applied innovation.
Businesses established since 31 May 2013 are eligible to apply.

ASB Young Inspiring Businesswoman of the Year (up to age 25)
(Open to members and non-members)
This award recognises the qualities of a successful entrepreneurial woman including but not limited to her drive, focus, vision and resilience, inspirational leadership and confidence. Entrants for this award must be aged under 25 as at 31 May 2014.

ASB Professional of the Year (Open to members and non-members)
Introduced in 2013 this award recognises the skills and qualities of a successful woman in a profession who makes a significant individual contribution that supports her organisation to deliver superior performance.

ASB Best Performing Team of the Year (Open to members and non-members)
New in 2013 this award celebrates the power of the many in driving breakthrough results and creating impact. The Award is open to businesses and charities operating in Scotland. Social Enterprises & Corporate teams may apply.

ASB Recognition of Outstanding Contribution (Open to members and non-members)
As well as highlighting the ever increasing contribution of women to the economic success of Scotland, the Award is aimed at identifying appropriate role models to inspire and motivate others. The Award is open to employed and self-employed women in the business professions, private, public, and voluntary sectors in Scotland.

ASB Employee of the Year (Open to ASB Affiliates & Direct Members Only)
Introduced in 2013 this award recognises the qualities of a successful woman who makes a significant individual contribution to support her employer to deliver superior performance.

ASB Best Business-Charity Partnership (Open to ASB Affiliates & Direct Members Only)
The Best Business-Charity Partnership Award was introduced in 2009 to recognise mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and charities.

ASB Most Enterprising Business (Open to ASB Affiliates Only)
Any affiliate member can enter, regardless of the period of time they have been in business. This allows the ASB to recognise the efforts of those members who have perhaps identified a niche market to operate in or moved the business in an entirely new direction, as well as those who are more recently established.

The closing date for entries is Friday 4th July at 5pm with interviews being held in central Edinburgh on 29th and 30th July. All applicants must be able to attend the interviews as well as the dinner on the 3rd October. The awards are free for Women Ahead and ASB members to enter. Non-members can pay a fee of £50 to enter, or can join ASB for £25 prior to applying for an award. Previous winners have commented that the ASB awards have provided excellent PR opportunities in national and local press, radio and social media, leading to speaking engagements and new business leads.

Women Ahead member, Dr Mhairi Towler of Vivomotion, winner of the ASB Most Innovative Start Up Award, said “It was a fantastic experience from start to finish and the awards dinner was a wonderful evening of celebration.”

The glittering Awards Dinner will be held in Glasgow on the 3rd of October supported by award sponsors Business Gateway and Royal Bank of Scotland.
