The pop-up shop will be conveniently situated at ALTAR Group’s office opposite Marks & Spencer.
The bakery located in the marketing consultancy's premises will stock an array of the Newport’s popular delicacies including Pistachio Croissant, Mincemeat & Brandy Cruffin, Speculoos Gingerbread Man, Pigs in blanket sausage roll and Beef Bourguignon Pie.
It will be the Scotts’ fifth artisan bakery in Tayside and Fife, with their tasty treats sold at their Arbroath, Dundee, Newport-on-Tay and St Andrews branches.
But cake and pastry lovers will have to be quick to sample the Scott signature creations as the pop-up bakery is only open for five weeks in the lead-up to Christmas.
Jamie Scott, who won BBC’s MasterChef in 2014, said: “Our bakeries have proved immensely popular since we first opened a pop-up one at The Newport Restaurant three years ago.
“The demand for our product was so high then that we decided to open a more permanent shop in Newport-on-Tay.
“The Newport Bakery brand has flourished ever since and we’ve taken it to Arbroath, Dundee and St Andrews.
“A move to Broughty Ferry for a short taster period in the build-up to Christmas makes a lot of sense as we already have Sandbanks Brasserie in the Ferry.
“Sandbanks offers a high-quality, casual dining experience with incredible views across the Tay and uses locally sourced ingredients and products we carefully create at our other locations.
“Our customers have become accustomed to our signature sourdough and treacle bread in our bakeries or at our restaurants like Sandbanks.
“But for those who haven’t, the Broughty Ferry bakery offers them a chance to sample our handmade, fresh-cooked products to get a taste of the Jamie Scott brand.”
The pop-up is being hosted by Dundee’s largest integrated creative agency, ALTAR Group. ALTAR Group comprises three specialist agencies, Avian design studio; Blue2 Digital - a web design and digital development agency; and Ginger - a PR and digital marketing agency. The ALTAR team has worked closely with Jamie supporting the launch of Sandbanks, and continues to drive marketing activity across the venues.
Sustainability is at the core of the Jamie Scott business as they work with local suppliers to source fresh ingredients close to home.
Many of their foods are repurposed across other outlets as they operate a zero waste policy.
They also offer a fruit collective where customers can donate fruit in exchange for baked pastries at the Newport Bakery.
Kelly added: “I’m really excited that we are able to give customers a taste of the Newport Bakery in Broughty Ferry in the lead up to Christmas.
“Our talented bakers are at the heart of our business and we look forward to serving up some delicious Danish-style pastries, viennoiserie and signature sourdough to customers.
“People can enjoy these all year round at our bakeries but we know they are particularly popular during the festive season.
“We will also continue to use some of our Newport Bakery goods at Sandbanks, The Newport Restaurant and The Cove.
“We are passionate about working with local producers and playing our part to reduce food miles and waste.
“It’s better for us, better for our customers and, ultimately, better for the world.”
The Newport Bakery, situated at the ALTAR Group office, 87 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry, DD5 1DJ, will open its’ doors for the first time this Friday, 17th November, at 10am.
It will open 10am-4pm, Wednesday to Saturday.
Christmas pre-orders will launch w/c Monday 20th for Christmas Eve collections of bakery goods and desserts.
Vouchers will also be available at the pop-up for The Newport Restaurant, Sandbanks and The Newport Bakery.
