Emilija Macikaite of St Paul’s RC Academy will be mentored by Overgate management for the next 18 months, with a four-week paid internship as part of the programme.
Overgate, Dundee is pleased to announce Emilija Macikaite, a 16-year-old pupil of St Paul’s RC Academy, has been paired with the centre for the 18-month programme.
Coordinated by Career Ready, Overgate has partnered with the social mobility charity which connects employers with young people in Dundee and across Scotland, supporting and preparing them for the world of work. The matching process of Overgate and Emilija has been based on a number of criteria, such as her career ambitions and also common interests.
Aiming to empower young people, regardless of their socio-economic-cultural background, Overgate will mentor Emilija for the next 18 months with monthly meetings, and a four-week paid work experience in summer 2024. A Scotland-wide Career Ready graduation event, celebrating the achievements of all internship students across the country, will take place in March 2025 to conclude the end of the programme.

“Through Overgate’s internship we very much hope to support and strengthen Emilija’s working life chances. Collaborating closely over an 18-month period with Emilija, as well as with a school coordinator from St Paul’s, Overgate will offer practical hands-on experience, a deeper understanding of business and an enriched learning curve which will hopefully set her on a positive career journey.”
