In Remembrance of Janet Hood

24th May 2024

It is with great sadness that we learned today of the passing of Chamber member Janet Hood LLB Dip LP NP.

Janet sadly died on 23rd May 2024 and our thoughts are with her family, her friends and colleagues.

She was a force of nature, a huge supporter of the local food & drink scene, a champion of hundreds of Dundee & Angus business and a good friend to so many in our region.

We last saw Janet at the event to mark the Kimono special exhibition where we enjoyed breakfast at Tatha at V&A Dundee and she was in fine form, ever positive of the outcomes of the work we were doing together to support local businesses.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her...she leaves an irreplacable gap and another empty seat alongside others gone too soon.

Chamber Vice-President, and Partner at Thorntons LLP, Kyle Moir said “I am deeply saddened to hear of Janet’s passing. Janet has been a friend and peer for nearly twenty years, after first meeting in 2008 when she courageously moved into private practice after many years’ service as in-house solicitor with the Local Authority.  Janet was a breath of fresh air and a true force of nature who regularly fought for the interests of the Leisure and Hospitality Sector in Dundee and Angus, and recently attending our Member’s Event at the V&A only a matter of days ago. As a vocal supporter of the Chamber we will deeply miss her drive, enthusiasm and passion as will so many of the members. She was a complete one off and will always be fabulous (doubled).”

Alison Henderson, Chamber CEO said "We've lost a friend, an ally and a sometime adversary in Janet! She never backed down from challenging where she saw a business in need of support and the fun & laughter we had over many a conversation will be very sadly missed. My thoughts are with her family and everyone who is feeling the impact of this sad news. The world is a less colourful place without her in it!"
