A Coast to Coast Challenge To Support Abertay\'s Elite Althetes

Published

29th August 2014

As we head into the new academic year at Abertay and welcome the future Class of 2018, we wanted to update you on some events that we hope will be of interest to you.  Firstly our Vice-Principal (Academic), Professor Steve Olivier, is in training for a major endurance challenge, raising money to support training opportunities for elite student athletes.

He will travel from Dunstaffnage Castle on the west coast of Scotland to Broughty Ferry Castle on the east coast by cycling, kayaking and swimming over 120 miles of roads, rivers and lochs.

The three-day charitable adventure from 1-3 September is raising funds to support student sport at Abertay University, with all money raised being used to send an elite student athlete for expert coaching, studying and training overseas.

Find out all the details of this epic adventure and support him on his JustGiving page.

We would also like to invite you to take part in a fantastic CPD opportunity: The Dundee Academy of Sport are supporting the Winning Scotland Foundation and other partners to organise an event that is a must for anyone involved in getting the best out of young people. Details can be found below.

Overcoming the fear of failure: helping children and young people develop a growth mindset.

Professor Carol Dweck, renowned Stanford psychologist, will be attending a series of events to share the insights of her growth mindset research.

Date: 10th September
Time: 9.30am – 1.30pm
