Sound and visualisation collaboration takes place at Soundbase Music Workshops

You are invited to send a reporter/photographer to Marryat Hall, City Square Dundee today (Wednesday 7 August) at 2pm.

Available to interview will be Shaleph O'Neill, Reader and Post Graduate Research Coordinator, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD), University of Dundee and young people participating in this year's Soundbase music workshops.

There is a band set up and visualisation on a projection screen, so there will be good visuals for photos and video. Photo consents for the young people are also in place.

This summer's Soundbase music workshops for 12 to 18 year olds at Marryat Hall feature a collaboration between Leisure & Culture Dundee and The University of Dundee as part of the University's Festival of the Future.

A group of young musicians who play in local bands are working with Shaleph O'Neill, Reader and Post Graduate Research Coordinator, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD), University of Dundee, to develop a new piece of sound and visualisation.

The young people will learn how to work with Shaleph's software and work together over two days of the workshop to make a new work.

This new music and visualisation work made by Shaleph and the young people will form part of Festival of the Future's headline event, Over the Garden Wall, a new immersive performance experience at the University of Dundee Botanic Garden in October this year.

Soundbase music workshops for 12-18yr olds are run by Leisure & Culture Dundee's Music Development Section with the aim of supporting young people involved in creating music and sound under the guidance of professional musicians.
