Another extension planned for the Trader Support Service

Government-backed support for businesses moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland has already seen two extensions with the latest maintaining it until 31 December this year.

Now HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has announced that a competitive procurement exercise for the free support service for businesses moving goods between the two parts of the UK will begin by early 2025.

The aim will be to deliver “ongoing support for traders” from 2026.

In the meantime, the current Trader Support Service (TSS) is to be extended to the end of 2025 as the implementation of the Windsor Framework (which replaced the Northern Ireland Protocol) progresses.

“The service is a key part of the Government’s help for businesses adjusting to the new trading environment,” HMRC explained. “The TSS can help businesses save time and money while helping them comply with Windsor Framework requirements.”

Noting that thousands of companies have already benefited from using the service’s guidance, training and support since its launch in 2020, HMRC urges traders to sign up to the TSS HERE.
