Dundee Creative Agencies Unite Under One Name

Blue2, Avian & Ginger Rebrand as Altar

This announcement comes as the agency reports impressive growth following several major client wins over the summer valued at over half a million pounds, and the recent opening of a new Glasgow office.

Previously operating as separate entities under the parent company - ALTAR Group, Avian, Blue2 and Ginger now come together as one dynamic organisation with 32 employees, delivering brand campaigns across design, digital and communications.
Altar is one of only three creative consultancies in Scotland to adopt an Employee Owned Trust model, further strengthening Altar’s commitment to their multi-disciplinary team and their position as a leading full-service creative agency.

Scott McCallum, Chief Executive, Altar, said: “Bringing our brands together represents more than just a name change. Trading as Altar helps simplify our brand proposition to our marketplace and reflects our positioning as one of Scotland’s leading full-service agencies.”

The rebrand marks a significant milestone for the agency, which boasts over 50 years of history in Dundee. First established as Baillie Marshall and growing to become one of Scotland’s largest advertising agencies, the organisation evolved into Avian, expanding services in the 90’s and noughties to include website and app development. In 2014 Avian acquired Blue Square Design and in 2020, Ginger PR was acquired, bringing media relations and content development expertise into the business.

Nial Chapman, MD & Strategic Director, said: “I’ve been part of this business for 20 years and I’ve seen how we’ve continually evolved to meet our clients’ growth ambitions. This rebrand reflects our ongoing commitment to creativity and developing transformative client campaigns. As an employee-owned agency, we’re driven by passion, purpose, and a personal investment to deliver results that go beyond the ordinary."

Headquartered in their iconic offices in a converted church, Altar remains firmly rooted in its Dundee home while consistently delivering work across Scotland, the UK and across the globe.  Clients include Dundee City Council, DC Thomson, St Andrews Links Trust, The Fairmont, Highland Park, Edinburgh Gin, Gillies, Stargazey Spirits, Amey Highways, Gin Bothy and Continuum Attractions.

Scott McCallum added: “We’ve combined the strength of Avian’s brand development, Blue2’s digital expertise, and Ginger’s communication edge to deliver a truly unified service. Together, we have evolved, offering a powerful proposition that not only meets the needs of today’s market but anticipates what’s next.”
