Stagecoach is proud to support Scotland’s Kiltwalk this year by offering free bus travel
for the ‘Kiltie’ volunteers who help make the Kiltwalk possible every year.
'Kilties' will have access to free travel through the Stagecoach Bus App, enabling
convenient and easy travel between Kiltwalk events in Scotland’s major cities. The
app offers additional benefits, allowing volunteers to plan their journeys, track their
buses in real time and receive the latest service updates.
The Kiltwalk is Scotland's largest mass participation charity walking event, with
178,000 people taking part since its launch in 2016. Events take place in Glasgow,
Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen, with Glasgow being the largest. Participants can
take part in walks ranging in distance from, The Mighty Stride (22.7 miles), The Big
Stroll (14.4 miles) and The Wee Wander (3 miles).
Last year, Stagecoach employees took part in Kiltwalk events across the country,
raising money for charities close to their hearts. Supported charities included: MND
Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland, CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) and
SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health). Members of the Stagecoach team will once
again be participating this year to raise money for their chosen charities.
Debra Goodwin, Chief Customer Officer at Stagecoach said: “We have a history of
supporting the Kiltwalk, with our team members participating to raise funds for
various charities. This year, we are taking our support a step further by providing free
transport for Kilties across Scotland. We believe this initiative supports the people
and charities in our communities and inspires more volunteers to join in and make a
difference.”
Paul Cooney, CEO, Kiltwalk added: “Kilties are the heartbeat of Kiltwalk and the
generosity of Stagecoach supporting their travel is true Kiltwalk kindness. Thank you,
Stagecoach.”
This initiative will be available across Stagecoach operating companies in West, East,
and North Scotland, enabling volunteers from all over the country to take advantage
of this opportunity.
