Energy efficiency charity Scarf is continuing its landmark 40th anniversary year by announcing that it has helped almost 2000 Dundee residents in the past year.
In the 2024/25 year, the charity also assisted with almost 500 home visits aimed at helping consumers reduce energy costs and emissions, providing over 200 carbon monoxide monitors thanks to a team of 3 front line advisors. The organisation’s drive to reduce fuel poverty has also seen £35,255 of debt written off.
As well as general energy efficiency advice, the charity is also called on to help with condensation/dampness, meter or fuel supplier issues, broken heating systems and more. Advice given ranges from how to conserve hot water and draught proofing to low energy lighting, reducing shower times and remembering to turn off lights.
Commenting on the figures, David Mackay from Scarf said: “As we mark 40 years of service, we’re proud to have helped hundreds of thousands of Scottish households with energy advice and green home improvements. But with the legacy of the energy crisis, rising living costs, and continued inflation, our work is more urgent than ever. Scarf’s support goes beyond energy savings – it helps people improve their living standards, health, and wellbeing.”
