Dundee, Scotland – From 27–29 June 2025, Dundee’s waterfront will come alive with A Whale of a Weekend – a vibrant, family-friendly festival celebrating the wonder of whales through the lens of art, science, polar exploration, and Scottish cultural heritage. Centred around Scotland’s historic ties to the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia, the festival promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
Taking place across Discovery Point, RRS Discovery, and V&A Dundee, the three-day celebration will feature hands-on activities, creative workshops, and engaging talks from explorers, artists, and scientists from around the globe. Families can look forward to exploring the fascinating world of whales and learning more about Scotland’s legacy in Antarctic exploration.
In a special gesture to mark the occasion, entry to Discovery Point and RRS Discovery will be free throughout the festival weekend.*
Festival highlights include:
- Immersive storytelling sessions and whale-themed activities
