The Scots Language Awards returned to Dundee for the first time in three years, with the city taking pride of place as host and home to one of this year’s major winners

The celebration, held at Discovery Point, brought together figures from literature, education, business and the arts to recognise their contributions to the Scots leid.

More than 16,000 votes were cast in a public poll, with Dundee’s own The Selkie Café taking home the Scots in Business award.

The café was praised for its creative use of Scots in branding and community identity, showing how the language can be authentically woven into modern business.

Judges commended the café’s efforts in serving its local community while giving Scots a prominent place in its daily operations.

It was a proud moment for Dundee to not only host the awards but also see one of its businesses recognised on the national stage.

The city’s role as venue underlined its growing cultural profile, with Scots performers and writers gathering to share and celebrate the vibrancy of the language.
