Bright Futures: Celebrating 25 Years of Care and Curiosity

Two of Dundee’s most loved charities – The Archie Foundation and Dundee Science Centre – are joining forces this November to celebrate 25 years of supporting children, families and the wider community.

The Archie takeover days will take place from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 November 2025, transforming Dundee Science Centre into a fun-filled hub of activities designed to raise awareness of The Archie Foundation’s vital work supporting children and families in hospital. With 10%  of each standard ticket price donated directly to the Foundation’s work in Tayside, visitors can enjoy the event while making a meaningful contribution to the charity.

Visitors can expect all the regular hands-on Science Centre experiences, alongside special interactive zones and activities, including the Teddy Bear Hospital, where children can bring their favourite teddy for a ‘check-up’ with healthcare professionals and meet Archie, the Foundation’s very own teddy bear mascot.

The Teddy Tombola will give visitors the chance to win cuddly prizes while supporting The Archie Foundation. Children and families can also get creative by designing their very own Worry Monster, a fun and imaginative way to explore feelings and wellbeing, and meet NHS Tayside play specialists who

who support children and young people in hospital settings through therapeutic and developmental play. Additional activities include badge-making and a range of crafting experiences, ensuring a day full of creativity and family fun.

The Archie Foundation exists to transform experiences and outcomes in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families across North Scotland. The charity’s vision is that all children across Grampian, Tayside and the Highlands and Islands will have equal access to world-class healthcare and bereavement support, delivered in a child-appropriate environment and manner.

Dundee Science Centre, also marking its 25th anniversary this year, has been inspiring curiosity and discovery since 2000. As one of Scotland’s leading science engagement hubs, the centre welcomes thousands of visitors each year to explore science through hands-on exhibits, interactive learning, schools and community outreach.

Rebecca Duncan, Business Development and Fundraising Manager, The Archie Foundation, said, “We’re so excited to be celebrating 25 years of The Archie Foundation alongside another Dundee institution that shares our passion for helping children learn and thrive.  These takeover days are a wonderful way to bring families together while sharing the difference Archie makes to children and families accessing healthcare and bereavement support every day, shining a light on 25 years of compassion, curiosity, and community spirit in Dundee.”

Meanwhile, Jill Farrell, CEO, Dundee Science Centre, added, “Both of our organisations have spent 25 years inspiring and supporting the next generation through science, care and community engagement, but also through fun, which is a vital tool in supporting children and families. This partnership perfectly captures that shared mission, and we look forward to celebrating our 25th milestones together with our community, alongside Archie himself, of course!”
