The Discovery Mast Climb is the latest exhilarating experience at Discovery Point.
Ascend on a thrilling journey as you climb the ship’s historic rigging, scaling the towering foremast of Captain Scott’s famous Antarctic vessel. Enjoy unparalleled views over RRS Discovery and its home city, before zip-lining over 40 metres back to Dundee’s glimmering waterfront.
The course has been carefully designed by Zone Events – the team behind the Kelpies Experience and the Forth Bridge Abseil – to replicate the challenging conditions faced by Scott, Shackleton and the crew of RRS Discovery during their Antarctic expedition 124 years ago.
From climbing authentic rigging to navigating the same narrow pathways above deck, participants will gain a sense of the physical effort, exposure and perspective experienced by the original explorers on their journeys South.
As the first to take on this hair-raising challenge, Dundee Heritage Trust Patrons Lorraine Kelly and Dan Snow set the bar high.
We're now inviting Dundee's business community to join us for an exclusive, adrenaline-fuelled fundraising weekend, to celebrate 125 years of the Dundee-built Antarctic expedition ship, RRS Discovery.
Supported by our expert guides, your team members can climb 25 metres up the ship’s mast and zipline all the way down to the quayside, while raising £200 each in sponsorship to support the work of Dundee Heritage Trust. Your sponsorship will help restore RRS Discovery, enabling the next generation of curious visitors to climb aboard and wonder at the world of early polar exploration and science.
