Angus Housing Association (AHA) has announced plans to move to a new single headquarters at Ethiebeaton Park in Angus, marking a significant step forward in the organisation’s long-term development and commitment to the local area.
The move will bring together AHA’s teams currently based in Arbroath and Dundee into one modern, accessible office, designed to support improved collaboration, efficiency and service delivery for tenants across Angus and Dundee.
AHA is in discussions to buy the restaurant wing of the former Premier Inn in Monifieth to develop their new headquarters. A change of use planning application has been submitted to Angus Council.
Gail Robertson, AHA Chief Executive, said: “After a long search for a suitable site, we now have the opportunity to bring our teams together in one place. This will improve services for tenants and enable colleagues to work more efficiently together in a modern, accessible office space.
“This is a significant step forward in our plans to grow the association and demonstrates our continued commitment to the local area and the communities we serve.”
The Association has continued to grow in recent years with staff numbers increasing to accommodate growth in new homes and the commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates.
Meanwhile, post-pandemic changes in working patterns have seen reduced footfall in its office buildings. A tenant satisfaction survey conducted last year found that 79% of tenants prefer to contact the Association by phone, reflecting changing customer behaviour.
By creating a single headquarters, AHA aims to ensure best value for tenants while continuing to strengthen services and invest in long-term improvements.
Importantly, there will be no redundancies as a result of the move.
AHA will retain its building in Ormiston Crescent, Dundee, for selected services, meetings and community use, and its Russell Square office in Arbroath will also remain open for tenant engagement.
The Board and senior management will be working with staff to ensure the new office meets the needs of the team and that operations are transferred smoothly. AHA will be providing more information directly to tenants and other customers as the project progresses.
The 41-bedroom hotel at the Ethiebeaton site will remain open. Jordan King, the current owner of the business said he was fully committed to the future of the hotel.
He said: “A planned refresh of the bedrooms is being progressed and we are also exploring a smaller, more sustainable food and beverage offering within the hotel building going forward.”
Employees at the restaurant are being consulted on future options once the outlet closes.
Mr King added: “We remain hopeful that the majority can be retained within the hotel operation itself. While this has been a difficult decision, we are pleased that a viable alternative use has been identified for the property.”
