V&A Dundee has been recognised as one of the best museums in the UK, following its inclusion in a new list published by culture and travel magazine Time Out.
Located on Dundee’s waterfront overlooking the River Tay, V&A Dundee is Scotland’s first dedicated design museum and the only Victoria and Albert Museum branch outside London. Since opening in 2018, it has become a key cultural destination, contributing to the city’s reputation as a centre for creativity and innovation.
Time Out highlighted the museum’s striking architecture and its role in showcasing Dundee’s design heritage, referencing the city’s global contributions ranging from comics such as The Beano and The Dandy to iconic video games including Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto.
The museum’s free-to-enter Scottish Design Galleries, which feature hundreds of objects spanning centuries of creativity, were also recognised, alongside its programme of major exhibitions that attract visitors from across the UK and beyond.
Looking ahead, V&A Dundee continues to build on its international profile with a series of high-profile exhibitions. Its 2026 headline show, Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show, explores more than a century of fashion show history through garments, film and archival material from leading designers including Alexander McQueen, Maison Margiela and Charles Jeffrey.
Plans are also in place for a major 2027 exhibition focusing on Vivienne Westwood, which will explore the iconic designer’s jewellery collections and her long-standing connection to Scotland.
This latest recognition further strengthens V&A Dundee’s position as one of Scotland’s leading visitor attractions and highlights its ongoing contribution to Dundee’s cultural and economic landscape.
