Scottish Dance Theatre has been named Best Mid-Scale Company at the 26th UK National Dance Awards, marking a significant milestone during the company's 40th Anniversary Season.
The prestigious accolade recognises Scottish Dance Theatre's outstanding contribution to the dance sector and comes after the company received five nominations over the past seven years. The award celebrates four decades of artistic innovation, creativity and community engagement, further cementing the company's reputation as one of Scotland's leading contemporary dance organisations.
Reflecting on the achievement, Artistic Director Joan Clevillé said:
“To receive this National Dance Award during Scottish Dance Theatre’s 40th Anniversary Season is incredibly special. We are deeply grateful for this recognition, particularly alongside such outstanding fellow nominees. The award represents a landmark moment in the company's anniversary celebrations, recognising the collective efforts of the many artists, performers, audiences and supporters who have contributed to its success over the last 40 years.
As celebrations continue throughout its anniversary year, Scottish Dance Theatre will embark on tours across Scotland and the UK this autumn. The season will culminate in a special 40th Anniversary Gala at Dundee Rep Theatre on 31 October, bringing together audiences and supporters to celebrate the company's remarkable legacy and future ambitions.
