Becoming a Responsible Employer

The thought of taking on employees can be a daunting prospect for a business owner, particularly when you have to consider the minefield of legislation which affects employment.  We provide a practical introduction to the fundamentals of employing people.  This workshop guides you through the employment relationship from recruitment, to issuing contracts, managing holidays, dealing with absence, discipline and grievance matters through to ending the employment relationship.

Claims of discrimination at work are becoming more commonplace and pose a real risk to businesses.  From recruitment to performance management, from reward to redundancy, every area is open to potential claims of discrimination.  This workshop will provide delegates with an understanding of what is meant by discrimination, the impact of discrimination in the workplace and the legal implications for an organisation accused of discriminating.

Flexible Working - Half Day

Flexible working is a way of working that suits an employee\'s needs, e.g. having flexible start and finish times, or working from home.  All employees have the legal right to request flexible working and so we will look at the requirements for qualifying for requests and the statutory rules.  The workshop will provide examples of the different types of flexible working solutions which can be applied by employers and guide you through the process of managing applications to work flexibly.
