Small and medium-sized employers in and around Angus can now have their own HR Dept.

Nicola Preston, an experienced Human Resources professional has launched The HR Dept Angus to provide practical and pragmatic HR advice and support to businesses in Angus, Stonehaven, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Blairgowrie and Alyth.

Nicola, who was born and grew up in Dundee and now lives in Carmyllie in Angus, will deliver outsourced HR through a local and personal service that ensures smaller employers have access to the quality solutions and levels of help a company would enjoy from its in-house HR team, but at a fraction of the cost.

A Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Nicola has over a decade of experience in HR.  She began her career with ClientLogic in Dundee, during which time she was responsible for high volumes of recruitment and later appointed as HR Manager for 900 staff.

She has also worked for Scotmid Cooperative Society, which operates 350 retail outlets across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England with businesses including Scotmid Food, Semichem, The Fragrance House, Funeral Directors, Post Offices and a property division. Starting as project manager but later HR Business Partner, she faced some unusual challenges including the opening of a new set of stores and the recruitment and training for staff in vastly different skill sets.

Prior to launching The HR Dept Angus, Nicola was HR Manager for the Amazon Customer Service in Edinburgh. She is now looking to use her knowledge and expertise to support local businesses in achieving their goals through their people.

\"My aim is to become a known and trusted partner to SMEs in Angus who can provide all the HR support and training that they need - and as a result build a successful business in the local community,\" explains Nicola.

\"Talking to many local businesses the majority are keen to ensure they have the correct contracts and policies in place.  They also worry that employment law is constantly changing and it can be difficult for SMEs to keep up to speed.

\"These are exactly the areas we can help with, alongside dealing with every type of people problem.  I am passionate about the real difference that we can make to local businesses and firmly believe that continued growth and development can be supported through maximising the full potential of individuals.\" she adds.

The HR Dept Angus is part of The HR Dept, a network of offices across the UK and Ireland, each run by experienced HR professionals. It offers an Advice Line to help deal with questions as they arise, backed by Employment Tribunal insurance, which protects clients against tribunal expenses, provided its advice has been followed.

Employers can also sign up to a free newsletter featuring advice and news of the latest employment law changes and enjoy a free review of their current employment contracts and handbooks.
