Recovery Month 2026

People in Dundee are being encouraged to attend events throughout September for Recovery Month.

TSI Dundee (formally Dundee Volunteer and Voluntary Action) have developed a programme of events with the support of recovery organisations within the city, which can be found on the Dundee Alcohol and Drug Partnership’s (ADP) website here

Recovery Month is an annual reminder for us to come together to build relationships, foster hope and kindness within Dundee and celebrate people’s recovery journeys.

The month is also a time to continue challenging stigma and raise awareness of what support options are available for people locally.

Dundee City Council spokesperson on alcohol and drugs Councillor Nadia El-Nakla said: 'I am really impressed with what's on offer in Dundee as part of Recovery Month. Being in recovery is an ongoing journey for people and their families. It is complex, difficult and at times isolating.

“In Dundee organisations are working hard towards creating a welcoming and supportive recovery community, which is vital, when recovering from addiction.

“The drug & alcohol partnership has provided funding directly to local communities, to carry out crucial anti-stigma campaigns and prevention work.

“Alongside the Planet Youth project, that works with young people from Primary 7 throughout secondary school to prevent alcohol and drug-related harm.

“Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs reviewed how families are supported and are involved in a loved one’s recovery in Dundee, this highlighted what is working well for services.

“These examples highlight the variety of work being carried out across the city. Recovery is not a straight path or a one size fits all approach, that is why services are working tirelessly to provide support plans that meet individual needs and are rooted in kindness & compassion.”

Starting with Overdose Awareness Day and continuing throughout September, various Dundee recovery groups and services are hosting a wide range of events which will provide support, advice and opportunities to build connections.

The events include workshops, creative sessions, open days, walks, and many more focused on celebrating recovery. The month also provides collective opportunities to remember loved ones who we have lost. The Festival of Hope will end the month and feature a ‘Creativity in Recovery’ exhibition. These events aim to bring our positive community together to learn and celebrate recovery within the city.

ADP Independent Chair Pamela Dudek added: “I want to say thank you to all the services and organisations involved in the fantastic work being carried out in relation to recovery in Dundee and during Recovery Month.

“If you’d like to find out more about what is taking place throughout the month, I encourage you to look at the wonderful programme of events that TSI Dundee have developed with the invaluable contribution of recovery services and organisations.”

All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
