The Archie Foundation in Tayside is kicking off the festive season with a bang at the inaugural Archie’s Christmas Cracker afternoon.
The brand-new fundraising event, taking place Saturday (November 14) at Malmaison Dundee, will combine festive food, drinks and live entertainment with an important fundraising mission.
Organised by Archie’s Tayside Fundraising Committee, all proceeds from the event will go towards supporting local children in hospital, receiving support in a healthcare setting or experiencing a bereavement.
The event is already receiving strong backing from the local business community, with Learn and Grow Childcare confirmed as headline sponsor.
The nursery is led by owner Laura Mooney, who has seen first-hand the difference Archie’s Child Bereavement Service can make, with children and families at Learn and Grow having received support from the service.
Learn and Grow Childcare was also the headline sponsor of Archie’s Sips and Sparkles event last year and Laura has continued her commitment to the charity by joining The Archie Foundation’s newly formed Tayside fundraising committee.
About her support for the event, Laura said: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting The Archie Foundation again, and especially to be headline sponsor of Archie’s Christmas Cracker. Through the children and families at our nursery, we have seen first-hand how important Archie’s Child Bereavement Service is."
"Its services make a real difference to families at an incredibly difficult time, supporting children through grief in an appropriate manner.”
Joining Learn and Grow Childcare in supporting the event are silver sponsor The Selkie Group, led by Kelly Fairweather, President of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, alongside bronze sponsors Malmaison Dundee, Dundee City Cabs and Fairhurst.
Rebecca Duncan, The Archie Foundation’s business development and fundraising manager in Tayside, said: “A big thank you to the businesses that have already signed up to support Archie’s Christmas Cracker and those who have already bought tickets. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Malmaison in November for what we hope will become a much-loved fixture in the Tayside fundraising calendar."
“We’re encouraging everyone to dust off their festive gladrags, embrace the festive spirit and come along ready to celebrate. Archie’s Christmas Cracker is about having fun, bringing people together and raising vital funds for local children and families – so the more sparkle, the better!”
Guests will enjoy a festive meal, entertainment and an after-party, with music from ‘Craig and Dan’ featuringaward-winning piper and Gleadhraich frontman, Craig Weir, and Jutebox frontman, Dan Richardson, coming together to bring a party atmosphere.
The event has been created by Archie’s Tayside Fundraising Committee as a way for businesses, colleagues, friends and clients to come together for an early Christmas celebration while supporting a cause that makes a direct difference to local families.
Archie’s work across Tayside includes its support of Glenlaw House – a respite facility for children and young people with complex medical needs. The charity’s support helps to enhance the environment to make it more child-friendly and provides additional equipment and resources not covered by the NHS.
