Chamber Golf Tournament 2015

This years Chamber Golf Tournament took place at Panmure Golf Course in Carnoustie with a great turn out of teams.

Many thanks to the companies who took part this year: 4G Scotland, Air Advantage, Bank of Scotland, Capital Document Solutions, DC Thomsons, Delsons, Dovetail, Enterprise Solutions, Findlays, Freshjet, GS Group, Langstane, Simpsons Carnoustie, Struans Dundee and WRB Gas.

The day started in the club house with a bacon roll, coffee and banter before the competition began.

Billy Thomson from Langstane was there to give out goody bags, which contained Titleist golf balls, tees and a ball marker for each player. There was a brief speech by board member Colin Loveday reminding players of the rules and regulations before all players took their position for a shotgun start. The weather started off sunny and warm with a light breeze - not bad conditions for a links course.

Andrew Crerar, the Professional at Panmure, was a joy to work with - he supported us really welll during the pre-event organising, and was a huge help on the day - everyone at the Club was very welcoming and made our day a real success!

Donna & Rebecca from the Chamber had organised to go round on a buggy with refreshments to help keep energy levels up. The feedback from the players was great, they were enjoying the course, however like true golfers things were not going according to plan: the greens were fast, the wind was picking up and the rough was deep! A few balls were lost.

A new member of the Chamber, David Lawrence from Foremost Golf  Photography, was on hand to get some action shots. By the end of the afternoon the weather had changed and waterproofs were needed but you can never dampen a golfers day out!

The players enjoyed High Tea after their golf, which was delicious with variety of dishes to choose from followed by plenty of tea and cakes. We were well looked after by Jeanne and Andrew and the great team at Panmure. 

Vice-President Dave Valentine, who had played, was on hand to give out the prizes. The winning team was DC Thomson with a score of 87, each player received a trophy and a Ryder Cup cap and scarf; runner up team was GS Group with a score of 80, they also received a trophy and a Ryder Cup tie. The Ryder Cup mechandise was kindly supplied by Lochcarron of Scotland.

The winning player was Billy Thomson from Langstane with a score of 40 and he received a trophy and a pair of Oakley Sunglasses, runner up was Ross Graham from Graham Pest Control, who played with the GS Group: he won a trophy and a pair of Oakley Sunglasses. The Oakley Sunglasses were kingly supplied by Oakley through Simpson Carnoustie.

All in all, all participants thoroughly enjoyed their day out at Panmure Golf Club - we look forward to having the winners back to defend their titles in 2016!
