Key Angus Business Week Event To Focus on International Trade

8th September 2015

A free event during Angus Business Week, which runs from 14-18 September, will provide advice and information for local businesses considering moving into the global market place.

The International Strategy Forum at The Park Hotel in Montrose on the morning of 18 September will focus on the experiences of two innovative Scottish SMEs who are successfully trading internationally. Tony Marks, founder and Chief Executive of 20/20 Business Group, the largest independent provider of project management training and consultancy in the UK energy sector, and Brian Frame, Managing Director of Dundee company Rautomead Limited, will share their experiences of exporting goods all over the world and the challenges – and opportunities - this can bring.

“In our thirty years of trading internationally, we have garnered a considerable understanding of what it takes to expand into the global market,” said Brian Frame of Rautomead, which is a world leader in the metal casting industry. “I am looking forward to discussing how harnessing new technologies and innovations enabled our business to trade in over 45 countries and the immense difference this made to our growth.”

Tony Marks revealed that he will be focusing on 20/20’s expansion into the United States and Latin American markets and the company’s rapidly increasing global distributer network. “Moving from a national to an international playing field is hard work, exciting – and, in our experience, highly worthwhile,” said Tony Marks.

The International Strategy Forum September is hosted by Scottish Development International (SDI) and will also feature a talk by Smart Masoni, International Trade Advisor at SDI, about the services available to companies looking to break into international markets. In addition, and by prior arrangement, one-to-one appointments with Smart will be available after the Forum.

“Moving into the global marketplace can be daunting but international trade is a key strand of the Scottish Government’s industry and strategy, help, support and advice are all available,” said Smart Masoni. “If your business is interested in expanding into the export business, this event is for you.”

The International Strategy Forum is from 10am until 12 noon on 18 September and will include a question and answer session with the three speakers and networking opportunities.
