Scotland’s leading office equipment specialist, Capital Document Solutions, has raised more than £8,000 for good causes in the past year.

Staff from the company have cycled, abseiled and hiked their way to raise money for a number of charities including Northsound Cash for Kids, MacMillan Cancer Support, Highland Hospice, Children with Cancer and Comic Relief.

Managing director Tom Flockhart said he was delighted staff at the company, which has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and Shetland, had taken such an active role in supporting charities.

He said: “I’m delighted that so many of our employees get involved in raising money for worthwhile causes. It’s something that we support fully and encourage.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together outside of work and show what we can achieve together as a team.”

In January 2015, Tom, along with members of staff from Capital’s Aberdeen branch, took part in a 12-hour challenge raising almost £5,000 to help disadvantaged children across the north-east.

The team hiked 23 miles in total, walking from the Bennachie centre along the Gordon way to Suie car park and back again in aid of Northsound Cash for Kids.

Later in the year Richard Thompson, senior account manager at Capital’s Edinburgh branch, raised over £1,000 for a leading cancer charity. Richard, who has worked at Capital for 27 years, completed a 165ft abseil down the Forth Rail Bridge to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Colin MacLeod, a customer trading officer at Highland Office Equipment, part of the Capital Document Solutions Group, helped to raise in excess of £2,000 as he took part in the L’Etape du Tour in the south of France.

Colin climbed one of the gruelling mountain stages included in the Tour de France, reaching altitudes of 16,500 ft to benefit national charity Children with Cancer.

On top of the many outstanding individual achievements, members of staff at Capital also came together to fundraise for Comic Relief in March of this year.

The Capital team took part in the nationwide Red Nose Day in a number of ways including dressing up and baking cakes to raise money for less privileged people around the world.

Towards the close of 2015, Capital Document Solutions continues to proactively support charities. The company recently continued its long-standing support of the Borders Change Foundation and helped sponsor its major event.

The 9th Borders Change Foundation Charity Dinner was held at the Carfraemill Hotel near Lauder on Friday, September 4 in aid of Post Natal Depression, Borders and specialist chairs for Ward 10 at the Borders General Hospital.

Established in 1979, Capital Document Solutions provides a range of office document and print solutions including copiers, printers, scanners and software with comprehensive national maintenance and training support.

Scotland’s largest independent supplier of office equipment and document solutions, the business employs 215 staff.
