Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce has today welcomed the news that Grove Academy's pupils' exams results are amongst the best in Scotland, and that improvements have been recorded in the results at some of the city's other schools.

Trevor Haines, Director of Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, said: 'When it comes to education, all businesses share the same goal: successful schools with motivated pupils who enter the workforce with the qualifications, skills and attitudes that employers need. It is very encouraging to see that the teachers and pupils in Dundee are meeting the challenge of raising attainment levels. I think the business community can also take some of the credit for these improvements. Many business men and women give their time and energy to support local schools. For example, Chamber members are supporting Craigie High's innovative pupil mentoring initiative, and Craigie High is one of the other local schools that has seen significant improvements in its exam results.'

Mr Haines added: 'Most of Dundee's recent successes have come about as a result of effective partnership and collaboration. The Chamber has played its own small part in the drive to give young people in Dundee a better future, and we are confident that the partnership we are forging with Dundee City Council will continue to deliver outcomes that the whole city can be proud of.'
