RSB Lindsays 200 volunteers help prepare The Yard’s new site in Dundee

A team of fifteen staff and partners from RSB Lindsays volunteered to help prepare the new play service being opened by The Yard in Dundee.  There were two teams, a morning and an afternoon group, who helped paint the outside of the building and tidy up the metal fencing around the site of the new venue at Rainbow House in Drumlanrig Place.

This is the second Lindsays 200 volunteering activity arranged to support The Yard, as a Lindsays team from their Edinburgh office was also hard at work in June at The Yard in Leith, Edinburgh to enhance the facilities for children with additional support needs.

The Yard offers space for children and young people to play without feeling different or isolated.  In addition, it offers respite for parents and siblings of the children through invaluable reassurance that they can relax knowing their child is safe, having fun and making friends.

Following RSB Lindsays teams’ efforts at Rainbow House, Paul Hayllor, Project Manager at The Yard Scotland said: “Can I say a huge thanks to Lindsays wonderful volunteers for the help in painting the Under 12s Club in Dundee. The weather was perfect for the day and the teams really threw themselves into the task. Overall, we were able to complete three sides of the building, tidy away lots of weeds and thistles from around the fence line and generally spruce the place up.

“I hope that they have managed to get the paint flecks out of their hair by today - there was a lot of merriment and paint splashing going on as well! Please pass on my personal thanks to everyone and I hope they enjoyed themselves as well as doing all that hard work for us.”

Lindsays 200 is a year-long charity initiative to celebrate the firms 200th anniversary and the target is for staff and partners from across their offices invest 200 hours or more by 31 December 2015 to support worthwhile causes that matter to staff.
