Scottish Dance Theatre is delighted to announce the launch of a brandnew website, rebrand, an international tour and a full packed year of 2016 birthday celebratory events.

The unveiling of the new brand and website will reflect the company’s world-class work and innovative direction. The new brand identity has been up-dated to create an unfussy and contemporary design to increase engagement with new audiences and also to appeal to our committed audiences.

Fleur Darkin, Scottish Dance Theatre’s Artistic DirectorsaidScottish Dance Theatre is a Dundee success story, starting out in 1986 as a company of three professional dancers and growing to a current company of 23, producing shows that tour Scotland and the world. We engage with diverse audiences, on a range of scales - and this season sees us touring Mexico and the UK, and hosting community dance shows and platforms at our home at Dundee Rep. The unifying feature of all our work is the exceptional talent we work with, in our own company of glorious dancers and teachers, and guest artists from design, visual arts, music and theatre. We have collaborated with two of Scotland’s leading designs companies, Jamhot in Glasgow and MTC here in Dundee, to create an identity that reflects our boldness to dream beyond inherited ideas, our insistence on quality and our own confident style”

Our 30th birthday year in 2016 is an exciting new beginning and we want to make sure that it starts with a bang and reflects the energy and passion of all the people we work with including our funders and team who make the work possible

Mexico will host two of our Fringe 2014 sellout shows Miann and children’s favourite Innocence both by Fleur Darkin from 8 to 15 November as part of the Year of the UK in Mexico 2015, working with our partners Anglo Arts, British Council, Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBA) and the Festival Internacional de Teatro Héctor Azar, Puebla 2015. Following this international leg of the autumn tour the season closes with the critically acclaimed YAMA which makes its way to Dance Xchange in Birmingham on 26 and 27 November.

Scottish Dance Theatre is 30 years young in 2016.  Throughout the year there will be series of events for all ages to mark the occasion, with lots of opportunities to get involved.  Details and updates will be posted on www.scottishdancetheatre.com and social media channels

Nick Parr, Chief Executive of Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre said “Our new identity encapsulates Scottish Dance Theatre’s vision and risk-taking approach. The aspirations we have for our 30th Birthday celebrations truly reflect the exciting range of work we create here in Dundee.”

The company will roll out its new identity in an advertising campaign along with the completely transformed website on Wednesday 4 November including a photocall outside Dundee Rep under the brand new signage.
