On Saturday 5th December, Dundee will celebrate the UN’s International Day of Disabled People.

The UN states that people with disabilities make up an estimated 15 per cent of the world’s population. Scottish Dance Theatre’s Head of Creative Learning, Dawn Hartley, will lead a dance performance on Sat 5 December in Tay Square at 2pm to celebrate inclusion in dance activities by all.

International Day of Disabled People aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and garner support for the dignity, rights and wellbeing of disabled people through a series of performances across the world to showcase and celebrate the contributions made by people with disabilities as agents of change and development in the communities in which they live.

Scottish Dance Theatre works to provide equalities in the arts. Every Saturday, Scottish Dance Theatre runs an accessible dance workshop ‘Do Your Thing!’, for people with and without disabilities. Sessions are led by experienced tutors and give participants the chance to learn more about how to get the most out of dance.

For more information about the dance on Sat 5 Dec at 2pm please contact Dawn Hartley on Mob 07745 127386  Office 01382 342600 dhartley@scottishdancetheatre.com
