Growing your own to help to cut food bills.

Kerry Dixon, director of Signpost International, grows all his family's veg and will soon be looking after retired egg-laying battery hens.

Kerry said "We grow as much as we can. It's educational for the children to know where the food they eat comes from."

His children are involved in planting the seeds, harvesting the veg and cooking it, and they are looking forward to rehoming hens from the British Hen Welfare Trust. Kerry is looking forward to around three eggs a day from the hens, as well as giving them a new lease of life in his grounds.
