With the racing season in full swing, Perth Racecourse welcomes back its annual Food and Drink Festival for two consecutive days of culinary and craft celebrations. Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 September will see a variety of local food, drink and artisan craft stalls grace the tracks, showcasing the very best produce that Perth has to offer.

Perth Farmer’s Market will return to the racecourse with everything from local foods and fine wines to handmade homewares and accessories available. Normally held on the first Saturday of every month in King Edward Street and High Street, the Farmer’s Market will be at the racecourse over the two days, bringing together products from in and around the Perthshire area.

The racecourse’s very own team of chefs will also be entertaining the crowd with a live street food cooking demo with dishes like thoroughbread sour dough bread with Macsweens Haggis and cheddar cheese, venison donuts and Scots pine salt and beef cheek and bone marrow broth.

David Trotter, account director at Sodexo Stadia & Racecourses Scotland, said: “We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with Perth Racecourse and to be sponsoring the Food & Drink Festival Race Meeting for another year. The culinary celebration brings together two of our passions: fantastic food showcasing the region’s provenance from some of the best local suppliers in the country, alongside the thrill of live jump racing over two days.”

The Lodge, Perth Racecourse’s new trackside accommodation, will also be getting in on the action by giving away delicious tasters of their new menu including homemade gingerbread and toffee sauce and Scottish oatcakes and pâtés to name but a few.

Hazel Peplinski, chief executive of Perth Racecourse, said: “Here in Perth we are lucky enough to have some of the finest ingredients right on our door step. Our Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of the vast culinary delights that hail from Perthshire, and we hope guests enjoy our tasty treats.”

The race meetings will take place during Scotland’s Food and Drink Fortnight; a nationwide event which supports and promotes the country’s produce. Running from 3-18 September Food and Drink Fortnight is a fantastic celebration of Scotland’s larder. Traders include:

Ann Davidson Butcher - award-winning family run butcher
Cairn O’Mohr – fruit wines, sparkling wines, ciders and bourtree juices
Casella & Polegato – traditional Italian artisan bakery
Scarletts – delicious honey from their hives throughout Perthshire and Angus
Cridhe Ghabhsainn – handmade fashion, homeware and accessories

Monday’s meeting will take place during the day, with Tuesday’s twilight meeting the perfect place to grab some dinner and enjoy an evening of horse racing.

Perth Racecourse’s Food and Drink Festival follows the recent CLIC Sargent Carnival which saw the racecourse’s biggest crowd of the season enjoy a carnival themed celebration in aid of the children’s cancer charity.
