Barnardo’s Works have recently supported a school leaver called Shaun from Angus on their Stage 3 Employability Fund programme. Shaun passed his CSCS Health, Safety and Environment test to allow him on to a construction site and he was supported to work towards a SCQF level 4 Certificate of Work Readiness award.  His training also included a Site Visit to the new Forfar Academy Site developed by Robertson Construction Tayside.  David Carroll and Andy Gillie spent some time with Sean to discuss Career Opportunities in the Industry and how he should present himself at interviews.

Barnardo’s Works matched Shaun to a joinery work placement with Andrew Shepherd Construction and he made such a good impression that he has now been offered an apprenticeship!!  The Site Manager, George Brown, was very supportive of Shaun from day one.

“This is a fantastic outcome and Barnardo’s Works would like to thank everyone from Robertson Construction Tayside and Andrew Shepherd Construction for believing in Shaun and supporting him to realise his potential”. (Sheelagh Scott, Barnardo’s Works)

“It is fantastic that we have been able to create this opportunity for a young person and that his work placement has led to a positive outcome\". (Margaret Scott, Andrew Shepherd Construction)
