Santa’s selfie marks the start of SantaBus2016

Santa’s taken a selfie to mark the first day of Xplore Dundee’s Charity Bus Drivers’ annual Christmas campaign.

The man in the red suit helps out the bus operator’s drivers every year, in return for customers’ donations to Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas appeal.  Yesterday morning (1st December) he looked delighted to be starting this year’s fundraising efforts on Service 22’s first bus of the day.

Of course, all of Xplore Dundee’s staff must comply with EU regulations on driving times, so when Santa’s been behind the wheel for a full shift, his elves take over driving duties and Santa goes for a rest.  Customers can keep track of which services Santa or his elves will be driving by visiting the Charity Bus Drivers Facebook page.

Two of our charity bus drivers, Allan Fordyce and Ross Murdoch, were chosen to help launch this year’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaign, as they donated the largest amount of money last year.  Including a large donation from National Express, the pair managed to raise over £6000.

They are hoping to beat this target in 2016 and are accepting donations online at www.justgiving.com/santabus2016 or by texting XDSB99 followed by either £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070.  You can also donate cash into the tins on Santa’s bus or at the Travel Shop in Commercial Street.  All of the money given is for Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas campaign, which ensures no child wakes up without a present on Christmas Day.
