A bustling first year for ANGUSalive

6th December 2016

We’re celebrating our first birthday at ANGUSalive as the countdown to Christmas begins in earnest.

It’s been a very busy year since Angus Council transferred its culture, sport and leisure services and employees to a charitable trust.

Our priority over the first few months was to ensure our customers experienced business as usual when they wanted to use our services, whether at the library or museum, theatre, sports centre or country park.

Thanks to the dedication and commitment of ANGUSalive staff, we were able to achieve just that.

In the last 12 months we have seen Cinderella entertain the crowds at the Webster Memorial Theatre and now Sinbad has sailed into Arbroath for this year’s fun-packed panto. In February, we unveiled our brand new sport and leisure facilities at Brechin Community Campus and just a month later paid tribute to local sporting achievements at the annual Angus Sports Awards in the Reid Hall.

The pace hasn’t let up. People from across the world headed to the hills to enjoy the magnificent scenery at the Angus Glens Walking Festival in June and the weather wasn’t half bad either!

In October, Monikie Country Park hosted the popular Dragon Matrix experience where we welcomed visitors from all over the UK.

That same month we were on TV after a hidden treasure was uncovered at Montrose Museum, in the form of a portrait of the king’s physician Dr Richard Mead by acclaimed 18th century artist Allan Ramsay.

Christmas is approaching fast. Come and join us.

You can enjoy a host of festive events at our centres, including –

Festive Fun Weekends at Monikie Country Park

Craft workshops at Crombie Country Park

Sinbad the swashbuckling pantomime at the Webster Memorial Theatre

You can also give the gift of fitness to a friend or loved one, or even take advantage of this great offer yourself.

Have a very Merry Christmas and here’s to a terrific New Year!
