Following the launch of Smart Exporter to help local businesses to grow internationally, Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce is making its own first step into the international market with a joint event with Alexandria Chamber of Commerce in Virginia, USA.  Alexandria is one of Dundee's 'sister' cities and the latest 'High Noon' lunch will bring speakers and members from both chambers together via video conferencing on 8th March.  Professor Donald MacRae, one of Scotland's leading economists and business commentators, and Jim Cheng, the Virginia Secretary of Commerce, will be the keynote speakers and they will be sharing their views on the opportunities for, and barriers to, more international trade.

Chris Lundie, President of Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, said: 'Bringing people together is at the heart of what the Chamber does. We encourage all of our members to explore the opportunities to make new contacts and develop new business opportunities overseas, so it only seems right that we should broaden our international ambitions.  This is going to be a very exciting event that we hope will create some immediate new business opportunities for local businesses, as well as encouraging many others to think international.'

Lord Provost, John Letford, who will be one of the Chamber's guests at the lunch, said: 'I congratulate Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce on their foresight in organising this event.  Expanding the trade links between Dundee and Alexandria will be good for the businesses in both cities and, therefore, good for both cities.'
