Pupils at the High School of Dundee celebrated World Book Day with a giant Book Swap.

Senior School pupils and teachers donated 500 of their favourite books in the weeks running up to World Book Day, and were invited to attend a Big Book Swap at lunchtime to select a different book of their choice, free of charge.

English teacher Mr Daryl Meechan, one of the organisers of the event, said: 'We are running this initiative to promote the love of reading, and hopefully encourage pupils to try out new authors and different genres. We have had a fantastic response, and I hope all of the pupils involved discover wonderful new books and authors to enjoy.'

World Book Day is held every year to promote the enjoyment of reading amongst children and young people.
