This Saturday, Scone Palace will open its gates to the public for another season of five-star splendour, including historic tours, events and family fun. To mark the 2017 season, at 10am on Saturday 1st April Scone Palace will welcome the first visitor to the ticket booth, presenting them with a Family Palace and Grounds Season Ticket and a food hamper from the Palace gift shop.

First opening to the public in 1966, the iconic Scone Palace and Gardens celebrated 50 years as one of Scotland\'s top tourist attractions last year. The Palace has had a spring clean and a series of refurbishments in preparation for visitors, including upgrades to public toilets, a new outdoor seating area and new signage in the coffee shop.

Scone Palace will once again be offering visitors the chance to upgrade their Palace and Grounds Entrance Ticket to a Palace and Grounds Season Ticket at no extra charge, meaning visitors can enjoy unlimited entry throughout the season, which runs until October 31st, 2017.

Margo Baird, Marketing Manager at Scone Palace, commented:

\"As one of Scotland\'s most beautiful and historic landmarks, we are looking forward to welcoming visitors from both far and near to find out a little more about what makes Scone Palace so special. After the success of our anniversary Season Ticket offer last year, we\'re delighted to offer our visitors the chance to take advantage of the fantastic offer once again, so they can make the most of everything on offer at Scone Palace. Since our season runs from now until October, we\'d encourage visitors to make the most of the offer and sign up as soon as they can.

\"We have a number of exciting events lined up again this year, from medieval contact event Battle Heritage to our second Halloween event, Spirits of Scone. To celebrate VisitScotland\'s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, some of our events will carry that theme. And of course there will be regulars like the annual Rewind 80s music festival and the ceramic art festival Potfest.\"

The first important diary date for Scone Palace will be Easter weekend, when it offers four days of family fun. On Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Monday 17th there will be Easter activities including an Easter Egg Hunt in the Maze, Bunny and Chick Hunt in the State Room and an Easter Workshop. Easter Sunday, 16th April, will see Pirate\'s take over Scone Palace for a Pirate Family Fun Day. An extra special Treasure Hunt and a host of activities will be taking place throughout the day, from a Pirate Cannon Game, to traditional dockside rope demonstrations.
