Period review of provision at Abertay Dundee

Published

Professional required for University programme review.

The University of Abertay is required to review its subject and programmes on a six-year rolling programme covering the whole of the provision. The reviews help to provide reassurance to the University that Quality & Standard of awards are being maintained and to shape the future of the provision in a given area.

The process required the subject area to complete a self-evaluation based on a supporting evidence set compiled over the review period (including annual reviews, external examiner reports, relevant committee papers, curricula and developments). The reviewers comprise independent internal and external academics and also a practitioner.

The role of the external practitioner is described as:

The external practitioner member (who may be one of the external academic members) must have substantial relevant practitioner expertise - industrial, commercial or professional experience - at a senior level, of an area of industry, commerce or practice that would be expected to employ graduates from programmes within the subject area.

The practitioner may have some knowledge of the School and provision but must have no input to the assessment process; if one of the external academic members is also a practitioner, he/she may provide an external practitioner view, and no additional external practitioner will be required; the external practitioner will be required to provide a statement outlining the nature of his or her relationship with the University - as membership of an Industrial-Liaison Group, for example.

An honorarium and travel/accommodation expenses are paid.

Would anyone who is qualified and interested in participating in either of these reviews please let Alan Mitchell know at alanmitchell@dundeeandanguschamber.co.uk.
