Dundee & Angus's bright renewable future gains big audience on Tartan Day.
The third DACC Tartan Day Business Debate with Platinum Partner Angus Council was another resounding success, with over 70 people attending to hear about Dundee & Angus's bright renewable energy future. There will be massive investment in the coming years to harness Scotland's renewable energy potential and businesses in Dundee and Angus can benefit from the supply chain opportunities this will create over the next 20 years, first from offshore wind developments and then from wave and tidal. All the speakers agreed that effective collaboration and partnership will be central to maximising the local benefits. Our colleges and universities will have to work together, and collaborate with local businesses to develop the right skills. Businesses will have to work together to exploit opportunities. Banks and businesses will need effective dialogue to get financing in place. Chamber President Chris Lundie told delegates that DACC would play its part in bringing people together and hoped to establish an 'Energy Forum @ DACC' precisely for that purpose.
On a lighter note, Bob Morrison from Business Gateway won the Business Card draw and walked away with a prize of an Easter 'goodie' and a free place at a future DACC breakfast or lunch. Congratulations to Bob, a previous prize draw winner, who has proved the adage: the more often you are in it, the more chance you have to win it.
