Students, mentored by GSK Montrose, create innovative project.

A group of S2 technology students from Arbroath Academy, sponsored and mentored by GSK Montrose, picked up the prize for best innovative design at the Go4SET challenge awards at Dundee University. The pupils were set a challenge of designing an 'eco-classroom'.

The five students began by visiting GSK Montrose, where their mentor, OE Expert, Stuart Gregor shared with them some of the sustainability work and initiatives that the site has adopted.

Inspired by this, the group then spent the next 12 weeks working on their project, giving up their lunchtimes and even an hour after school once a week to catch up and meet with Stuart. They worked exceptionally hard, producing a 60 page report detailing their project and also produced a model of their design for the judging panel to review.

Stuart explained, 'It has been great to work with the group over the past 12 weeks and I'm delighted that they've been rewarded for all their hard work. The level of competition was very high and Arbroath Academy even had another team competing against them so they should feel really proud of what they have achieved.'

The group will now take their report and project to the Big Bang Scotland Event in Glasgow in June where they hope to be successful again. Good luck!
